Dangerous Driving

There have been many comments about dangerous driving. Here is how to report incidents.

a red sign that says wrong way go back and no entry

There have been many examples of people saying they have seen drivers driving in the wrong lane on the A4500 between the new Sandy Lane Relief Road Junction and Kislingbury Roundabout.

After the initial reports, Highways added more signage to prevent people turning into the filter lane, however, it seems this is still happening.

West Northants have advised that all works are compliant with national design standards, and “No Entry” signs have been added to provide extra clarity.

A formal safety review will take place 1 year after opening (August 2026), in liaison with the Police.

As such, to ensure that the relevant authorities have all the relevant information to complete this safety review, if you do encounter someone travelling in the wrong direction on the dual carriageway please report this to either or both of the following:

Highways at Highways.WNC@westnorthants.gov.uk

Police at Operation Snap: Northamptonshire | Northamptonshire Police

If safe to do so, collate as much information as you can.  If you have dashcam footage please send this as it will highlight how dangerous this can be.

Reports on Facebook, whilst useful to locals to be careful on this stretch of road, will not necessarily get to the people who can make decisions to change anything.
