Update on Closure of Nobottle Road
Harpole Parish Council met with Davidsons and their groundworks team earlier this week to discuss the road closure on Nobottle Road and the cause of the extended date.

They advised that 3 weeks into works, an old water pipe was discovered that was not on any plans or test digs that they had conducted. Even Anglian water seemed to be unaware of the pipe. Whilst this was not damaged during the works there were water leaks. Anglian Water were advised and they called a stop to all works until this had been resolved. Davidsons have had to install a new water pipe to divert the water from this old pipe before any further works could take place. The plan is that this is switched over next week and they can then start on the original plan.
The original plan was for a 38 week process to complete the roundabout at the top of Road Hill, install drainage and construct a footpath and cycle path along the road. The new date of February 2027 is the 35 weeks from next week when they can start again.
They have suggested that they will be able to open up access on the roundabout in early September and will be working to be able to have this open as an entrance / exit towards Daventry for Scarecrow weekend. If we would like this could then remain open for residents to use. The road towards Duston will still be closed until the works are completed.
The developer has applied for the extension due to the unexpected works needed on the water pipe. They understand the inconvenience this has caused and are looking for ways to bring this date forward and will open the road as soon as it is safe to do so.
