Harpole Parish Council is proud to offer a welcoming and well-maintained allotment site for local residents for over the past 100 years! Renting an allotment provides far more than just a space to garden—it offers an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, stay active, and become part of a friendly and supportive community.

Whether you are an experienced gardener or completely new to growing your own produce, our allotments are open to people of all ages and abilities. Plot holders benefit from a secure environment where they can cultivate fresh, seasonal fruit and vegetables, share knowledge, and build lasting friendships. An allotment is the perfect place to unwind, connect with nature, and take pride in producing your own homegrown food.

On Harpole Allotments we have a team of volunteers who run the Allotment Association, providing support and guidance to our plot holders.

An AGM will be called in June 2026 to re-elect a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasure and community Members depending on how many volunteers put themselves forwards.

I took on an allotment last year, starting with a 5 pole, very quickly changing up to a 10 pole!

I absolutely love growing my veg, it is really therapeutic and if people think it’s just for old people they are so wrong! My grandsons say “the carrots are so carroty”. Its my happy place.

I took my allotment on his year, following a challenging time in my personal life. We have been welcomed with nothing but smiles and encouragement. My young children and I attend to our allotment normally twice a week and every time we will bump into people, chat, and even support us on our plot. We are very grateful for the chance to grow our own, and for my children to learn out the process of farm to fork. Hopefully we will be a plot holder for many many years to come!

I took on my allotment about 15 years ago as I have always had an interest in growing my own produce without the use of harmful pesticides and chemicals. Initially it was very hard work as the plot was newly created from the field area and full of “twitch” (couch grass) which spreads prolifically using underground stems. I was on the verge of giving it up when my parents came to the rescue by creating a set of semi-raised beds in the plot. This was a game-changer meaning I could focus on one area at a time, and cover unused areas to keep them weed-free.
Nowadays, it still takes effort to keep the weeds down and the beds watered but I am rewarded with a variety of organic vegetables and fruit; and reap the benefits of fresh air, exercise and conversation with neighbouring plot-holders.

If you are interested in renting a plot, please contact Harpole Parish Council for further details.

There are currently only 5 plots left available to rent for new or existing tenants.

Please contact the clerk at clerk@harpole-pc.gov.uk for more information.
