Who Does What?
From Footpaths to Fly Tipping, many issues around the Parish of Harpole are the responsibility of other Councils or organisations. While we look to bring pressure where needed, the best and fastest way to initiate a resolution is to report the problem via one of the routes below. Some of these have changed, e.g. footpaths, so please read the information.Reporting
Abandoned Vehicles
To report an abandoned vehicle:
- Call ELVIS on 08456 121 999, or
- email: elvis.recovery@northants.police.uk
Please supply the registration number, type and condition of the abandoned car, and its location.
Flooding
Check who is responsible for dealing with different types of flooding on the Northamptonshire Flood Toolkit website.
Please note that if the flooding is occurring on the public highway, you should report this via Street Doctor so we can investigate and take any necessary action.

If you believe a person/persons are at risk take immediate action and contact the emergency services (police/fire/ambulance) on 999. Northamptonshire Police can be contacted for non-emergencies on 101.

Check to see if there are any flood warnings in your area by visiting the Environment Agency website.
Harpole has 2 Flood Bins for residents to fill Sandbags. These will be found at the Carpark in Larkhall Way and outside the Old School Hall. They are locked with a code which can be obtained by calling 07858 043 456 . They contain sand, bags and a spade. Please ensure the spade is replaced and the bin locked after use.

Northamptonshire – Northamptonshire County Council (NCC) is the lead local authority with overall responsibility for flood risk management in the county. All enquiries relating to flooding and flood risk should be reported to NCC direct.

Surface water flooding/road drainage
– This is the responsibility of Northamptonshire Highways Department: 0300 126 1000
Main sewers and pipework shared by more than one property
– This is the responsibility of the Water Authority.
- Anglian Water: 03457 145 145
- Thames Water: 0845 9200 800
Single private pipework blockage/flooding
– This is the responsibility of the householder and it is their responsibility to have it unblocked. (This is pipework which leaves a single property and meets either a shared pipe with other properties or the main sewer.)

Fly Tipping
Fly tipping should be reported to South Northants Council
Litter and street cleansing (e.e. leaf litter, dead animals, graffiti or glass etc.)
Littering and street cleansing problems should be reported to South Northamptonshire Council
Speeding
Speeding should be reported to Northamptonshire Police.
Street name signs
Street Nameplates
To report a damaged or missing street nameplate please email building.control@cherwellandsouthnorthants.gov.uk and provide, location of nameplate and photo if possible. Highway signs are dealt with by Northamptonshire County Council.
Trunk roads (e.g. M1, A5, A14, A43, A45)
Our interactive mapping page shows the roads which are maintained by Highways England in green. These roads are:
- M1
- M45
- A5
- A14
- A43 between the M40 Junction 10 and M1 Junction 15a (from Northampton to the county boundary near Stamford is NCC)
- A45 between Thrapston and the M1 Junction 15 (from Junction 16 to the county boundary towards Dunchurch is NCC)
